The Captain and the Locks

The Captain and the Locks

During our April, 2009 Suz's Cruises trip down the Main, Rhine, and Danube Rivers, there were many photo opportunities like this one. The River Princess was commanded by a very skilled captain and diligent staff. Captain Anton van den Boom is seen here guiding the ship within inches of the wall of one of many locks he meticulously traversed us through on our wonderful journey through the heartland of Europe. Such precision was not only necessary through the locks but was also essential to take us under bridges that barely cleared the skipper’s thinning hair. F11, 1/100 sec at 26mm focal length.
